TERRA-JET DJ 20

Powered by a proven 75 HP strong HATZ Diesel engine (Stage 5) the TERRA-JET DJ 20 offers up to 9 tons of thrust and pullback force, 2.840 Nm of torque and a maximum spindle speed of 228 rpm. The small footprint and the reduced noise level at the operator’s ear make the TERRA-JET DJ 20 user friendly and sustainable. The fast set up time and the increased movability helps you to operate your machine also in urban areas or family‘s backyard. It is the perfect machine to complete your HDD drill rig fleet in the 8-10 tonnes class.

Intelligent features like the thrust boring, the carve mode and the cruise control make drilling and steering very easy, also in hard ground conditions. The operator sits on a superb cabin. The cabin can be turned in 22.5 degrees steps from the driving position to the 90 degrees position. All control components will turn with the cabin. The operator chooses his optimum position.

THRUST and PULLBACK of the driving saddle are carried out via Rack and Pinion Drive. This is reliable and powerful. Three hydraulic motors with gear boxes move the driving saddle. In the quick gear they reach 17 m/min (56 ft/min). The two rotation motors of the driving saddle create the high torque.

Intelligent drilling assistant systems like the thrust mode, carve mode, the ADBSe or the drill speed control make the drilling more efficient and more easy. The operator can relax, the machine does the work. The electronical CLP control manages all drilling assistant systems and feels the underground. Like this the machine operates at highest productivity.

With its compact design and increased movability the DJ 20 can drive through a 1.60 m wide entrance. The machine is steered by a remote control, fast and safely.

All HDD drill rigs from TERRA have a galvanized drill rod magazine. Optional TERRA even overs a duplex painting. Different than some competitors the Swiss manufacturer TERRA produces all parts in Europe to guarantee highest Quality standards. This ensures a long lifetime of your drill rig.
The drill rods of the TERRA-JET DJ 20 are 3.0 meters long which means less drill rod changing and faster operation. With a bending radius of 25 m you can easily steer around existing pipes in the ground. The magazine is equipped with 120 m of drill rods.

The S-Series is designed to be extremely service friendly and reliable. All hydraulic components are easily accessible for servicing. The engine cover is made of glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) and can be lifted up to 45°, supported by gas-filled struts. They can also be lifted off completely allowing the best access to all components. The electric components are assembled in the central control panel inside of the cabin with easy access.

The break-apart system allows the hydraulic break-apart of the drill rod threads. The break-apart torque of 5’100 Nm (3800 ft.lbs) is nearly twice as high as the torque of the driving saddle. The clamping force is 100 kN (10 tons, 22’000 lbs). This guaranties that the drill rod threads can be always opened reliably.

The TERRA-JET DJ 20 can be adapted with a vertical drill option.
